![]() ![]() ![]() The lock tumbler may be part of the outside door handle, but usually is not. Unplug any wiring harness connector to the lock assembly if necessary. Remove them and undo the clip that holds the control rod or cable from the handle. Looking at the interior of the door you'll see two 10 mm nuts that hold the door handle. Then remove the plastic wind shield from the door in the upper corner where the outside door handle is. Reach in behind the panel and pull the window wiring harnesses through, disconnect the courtesy light (if one exists), and disconnect the door handle and lock cables at the door handle. Now simply slide the panel straight up until it releases from the door, but keep it close to the door. Slide it along the bottom and side popping out all the plugs down each side and across the entire bottom. Pry out until a plastic plug releases and insert your hand. Slide a flatbladed screwdriver in between the inner door panel and the steel door at the center bottom. (Don't worry about getting them all back in the same place as each one will only lock into its correct place.) There may be another screw that you'll find in the opening after the switches are removed, Most likely not, though. Pry up the woodgrain surround panel of the window and mirror switches and unplug the connectors to the switches. Then pry out the round plastic plug in the middle of the arm rest, and remove the bolt/screw underneath. Either that, or the entire interior panel underneath the door handle is pried out to find that same screw. There will be a small plastic cover in behind the interior door handle, that needs to be pried out to reveal a screw to remove underneath. The interior door panel has to be removed, but leave the glass in the fully up position. Its been years since I owned this generation OBW, but all cars are pretty much the same to change out the outside door handle. ![]()
